Learn how consistent practice of mindfulness meditation is a path to greater well-being.

Michelle DuVal, MA is the director of The Mindful Center, as well as the leading provider of Mindfulness Training in the Southwest United States, with her ongoing programs appearing in such top organizations as Presbyterian Hospitals, the University of New Mexico, Sandia National Laboratories, the New Mexico Heart Institute, the Albuquerque Public School system, the City of Albuquerque, the Department of Energy, and more.

All of her programs and guided meditations are evidence based, steeped in research, and skillfully interweave the profundity of the practice with the humor of insight every step of the way. Her skill in teaching comes not only from training with some of the top meditation masters in the world, but also from years of learning, practicing, and teaching with her father, Jim DuVal, the founder of The Mindful Center.

Leverage the Power of Play for Your Well-Being: As adults, we may have let life’s many obligations and responsibilities crowd out the space for fun. But play is a surprisingly productive and powerful tool that’s as essential to grown-ups as it is to growing children. In this breakout session, you will learn how to re-connect to your flow state and engage in an interactive game that may inspire you to put play on top of your priority list.

Paige has a diverse career background, working in corporate wellness with a technology company for over a decade as well as practicing as a nutritionist in a cardiovascular clinic. She is driven to embody and share the latest research in well-being, ranging from holistic self-care practices to simple but meaningful routines that boost mindfulness and productivity. Paige enjoys writing articles about wellness, is an amateur podcaster, and thrives on outdoors activities like cycling and snowshoeing. Her intention is to share practical well-being strategies with others to help them live their happiest lives. Paige holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of New Mexico and a master’s degree in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine from the University of Western States.

This breakout session is designed for healthy individuals who want to discover the tips and techniques which can be incorporated into their lives to keep both their brain and body in the best health possible. We will discuss what the latest research has discovered are the key components to enhancing our bodies and our brains as we age. After attending, you will be equipped with creating a plan to incorporate these techniques into your daily life.

Kathryn Hull is a practicing Wellness Coordinator with a background in higher education. After being her father’s primary caregiver for 8 years, she wanted to give back to the organization that guided her and her family through the world of dementia. She is now a Community Educator for the Alzheimer’s Association and is excited to share their presentation Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body.

In this session we will learn methods to develop and protect our peace of mind, our most precious possession. Using logical meditation methods, to harness the power of our mind, we can protect our peace of mind from negativity, creating the positive world we all long for.

Rick Vinnay
Executive Director for The Solutions Group

Rick has enjoyed working at The Solutions Group for the past 8 years. He has worked in the behavioral health field since 1996, receiving his Masters degree in Social Work in 1995. He is independently licensed as a Clinical Social Worker, is a Certified Employee Assistance Professional and Qualified Substance Abuse Professional. Prior to his career in behavioral health Rick worked in many corporate business settings as an Engineer in the fields of Marketing and Project Management, having received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Rick has worked in the EAP industry for the past 20 years, most of this time in EAP management. In addition to his administrative duties as the Executive Director at The Solutions Group, he provides consultation to supervisors, managers and Human Resources professionals. Rick also provides organizational interventions and conducts trainings. In his spare time he has practiced and taught at Kadampa Meditation Center New Mexico for over 25 years. He is happy to be here today talking about a topic that is near to his heart.

Ana is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and has worked in corporate wellness in various roles for 14 years. She believes that it is a universal desire for all human beings to want to thrive and live fulfilling lives. Her intention is to continuously learn about science-based holistic well-being practices and to support others on real ways to use wellness practices that support their physical, mental, emotional and social health as a path to a fulfilling life. She is most passionate about guiding others on how to create a healthy relationship with food. She believes that nature is healing and loves to hike with her dog and be in the great outdoors. Ana holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition and Health Education from the University of New Mexico.
